The Swim School Lead is responsible for the smooth running of the Swim Schools’ day to day operations. The individual in this role should demonstrate skills as an energetic manager who enjoys working with children, has an exceptional sense of customer service, strong organizational and computer skills, and enjoys working in a fast paced, multi-faceted environment. Discipline, leadership, and great time-management skills are essential in this position.
This is a full-time position for the Summer. Lead shifts will be 9:30 am-5:30 pm Monday-Thursday, and 9:30 am-3:45 pm on Fridays. Responsibilities also include interacting with clients, parents and their children, and the public. This includes problem-solving, information and guidance, and top-notch professional communication. This role will report to and work collaboratively with the Managers of Youth Programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- An awareness and appreciation of the costs and revenues for the Swim School, working with management to ensure viability of the business.
- Work closely with Front Desk staff, Lifeguards, and the rest of Menlo/P.A. Swim and Sport to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Supports parents and all patrons with professional communications.
- Maintain safe and adequate equipment and gear for swim lessons.
- Motivate, coach and mentor staff to ensure a dedicated, enthusiastic, and positive Swim School environment for all involved.
- Create Camp lesson rosters, oversee progress updates and camp certificates.
- Assists with call-outs and finding site-specific shift coverage, documenting such instances for the Head of Swim School.
- Supervise Camp Swim Lessons and Public Swim Lessons.
- Oversee set up/clean up and ensure classes start/end on time.
- Manage instructors, ensuring uniform is worn, and shift expectations are met.
- Execute shift briefs and debriefs, communicate any updates or information from the Head of Swim School to staff.
- May perform swim instruction and Deck Coordinator duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Solid communicator with demonstrated experience in working with a wide variety of audiences including, the public, staff, management, children and adults.
- Some people-management and development experience.
- Swim Instruction Experience: 3+ years of proven ability in a swim school or aquatics program environment.
- Experience working with students as young as 6 months old through Adulthood, physical or learning disabilities, and special needs.
- Experience working in a fluid, fast-paced, or high-pressure environment.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
