This position is responsible for maintaining Menlo Swim and Sport swimming pool equipment, water quality as well as facility maintenance and cleanliness.

On the job training and national certification will be provided.

Candidates should possess a high level of self motivation, attention to detail, and ability to plan and execute maintenance and cleaning schedules. Candidates should be mechanically inclined and have at least basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and other trade skills. Candidates will be expected to learn, understand, and adhere to current codes and practices established by the county health department and national aquatic certification agencies.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordination, scheduling and execution of general pool maintenance including, routine filtration cleaning, filter basket cleaning, cleaning pool gutters, and maintaining and repairing chemical pump and injection systems.
  • Responsible for daily pool water quality and chemistry testing and documentation per code and standards..
  • Administer chemicals and other supplies to pools as necessary.
  • Ensures OSHA compliance for chemical and biohazard handling and disposal.
  • Report all pool maintenance and operational issues to management.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the pool deck including sweeping/hosing off and emptying trash receptacle.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the lobby and offices including sweeping/vacuuming and emptying trash receptacle.
  • Perform other general facility related maintenance and repairs.
  • Ordering of pool chemicals and cleaning/janitorial supplies.
  • Maintain current knowledge and developments of pool equipment, facility renovation and maintenance techniques and develop proposals for repairs and upgrades.
  • Emergency Action Plan – Must understand how to initiate any and all emergency procedures

Qualifications and Experience

  • 1 year of experience as a commercial pool operator preferred
  • Must have basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical and other trade skills
  • Must have great problem solving skills and be mechanically inclined.
  • Must be Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certified or in agreement to certify within 60 days of hire.(2 day course, paid for by company upon successful completion)
  • Must be or is willing to obtain American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, within 60 days of employment
  • Must have access to a car to drive between locations

Menlo Swim and Sport located at the Burgess Park Pools in Menlo Park. The facility includes full park-like grounds, locker rooms and lobby, and three pools: an 11-lane, 25-yard competitive pool, a 6-lane, 25-yard instructional pool (87 degrees), and a baby pool. Will also include the new MPCC pool located in East Menlo Park in the near future.

Compensation

This role is an hourly position that pays between $30-$37 per hour, depending on experience.
