Team Sheeper is offering an exciting opportunity to lead the Camp Program. This position reports to the Managers of Youth Programming. The Camp Lead is a role model for camp participants, counselors and all team members. This is a full-time position for the Summer (June 9-August 8). Camp Lead shifts are between 8:15 am-5:30 pm Monday-Friday. The ideal candidate for this position would commit to most of the Summer if not all. Responsibilities also include interacting with parents and their children, and the public. This includes problem-solving, information and guidance, and top-notch professional communication. This role will report to and work collaboratively with the Managers of Youth Programming.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Organize and ensure a smooth and safe camp in a fun, exciting and spirited environment
  • Supervise camp counselors by setting expectations, managing performance and giving timely feedback
  • Organize and assist with set-up and cleanup
  • Promote and demonstrate safe work practices, suggest and implement procedures to assure the highest standards of risk management, employee and camper safety and risk avoidance
  • Assist in counselor training
  • Provide feedback to the Managers of Youth Programming regarding curriculum and activities to enhance the camp experience
  • Respond to camp related incidents and injury, complete documentation and notify the Managers of Youth Programming and the Manager on Duty.
  • Review and investigate complaints with collaboration and direction with the Managers of Youth Programming
  • Complete other responsibilities and duties as assigned or needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position reports to the Managers of Youth Programming. It is anticipated that the Camp Lead will work collaboratively with other department managers and Service Center as needed. The Camp Lead supervises all camp counselors assigned to this camp.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working as Camp Counselor, coaching and/or working with children
  • Must be self-disciplined, responsible, alert, assertive, courteous, and professional behavior
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be punctual
  • Must have demonstrated leadership experience in or, responsible for teaching, coaching other programs
  • Fantastic communicator with demonstrated experience in working with a wide variety of audiences including, the public, staff and management
  • Solid people management and supervisory experience
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
